The NCF Season’s Opening match for the 2009/2010 will take place on Sunday, 1st November, 2009 at the Tafawa Balewa Square(TBS) cricket oval from 10am.

The match which is symbolic to flag off a new cricket season will feature Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club(ILCC), Current holders of the National Cricket Club Championship trophy and an NCF Selected XI.

The season’s opener is expected to flag off the Lagos CCC League which is expected to commence almost immediately after on Saturday 7th November, 2009.

The President of the NCF, Kwesi Sagoe is expected to give an insight into what the season holds for the NCF in terms of programmes and events.

The NCF secretariat has also announced that the periodic NCF media brief will be held on the day as well.

With a new Board in place after the last elections, the objective of the new NCF team will be to improve on the senior national team’s ODI ranking of 39th  achieved earlier in the year at the WCL 7 in Guernsey as well as improving the general administration of the game in the country especially at the grassroots level.

The new Board held its inaugural meeting in July in Kaduna during the last National Cricket Club Championships where Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club of Lagos emerged winners for the second year in succession.
