Day 1 matches were played on Monday 16th with the following results: | (2009-02-18 )

Ten states are participating in the Cricket event at the on-going National Sports Festival

taking place in Kaduna. The states are Ogun(current champions), Lagos,  Edo, Delta, Kaduna,

FCT(Abuja), Kebbi, Anambra, Rivers and Kano.

 

The tournament format is a round-robin(30-over) league in two groups with the first two placed states

In each group going into the semi-final stages.

 

The groups are as follows:

 

A-     Ogun, Lagos, Delta, Anambra and Kano

B-      Kaduna, Kebbi, Edo Rivers and FCT(Abuja)

 

Day 1 matches commenced on Monday 16th with the following  results:

 

GROUP A:

 

Lagos State defeated Delta State by 44 runs

Lagos 182 for 9 wickets in 30 overs(Leke Oyede 82 , Friday Udoh 3 wickets for 21 runs)

Delta 138 for 9(Ojulowo 56, Oghenekevwe 24; Taiwo Bakare 2 wickets for 23 runs)

 

Ogun State defeated Anambra State by 59 runs

Ogun 147 for 7 wickets in 30 overs(R. Adesanya 23)

Anambra 87 all out( James Chukwu 2 wickets for 14 runs)

 

 

GROUP B:

 

Kaduna State defeated Edo State by 10 wickets

Edo 61 all out(Dahiru Enesi 3 wickets for 8 runs)

Kaduna 62 for no loss(A. Samuel 27, Joseph Michael 18)

 

Kebbi State defeated FCT by 2 wickets

FCT 108 all out(O. Uche 40; I. Mohammed 6 wickets for 22 runs)

Kebbi 109 for 8 wickets(Y. Peter 2 wickets for 10 runs)
