NIGERIA'S SENIOR NATIONAL WOMEN'S CRICKET TEAM DEPARTS FOR THE PEPSI ICC-AFRICA T20 WOMEN’S TOURNAMENT HOLDIING IN KAMPALA, UGANDA, DECEMBER 16-20, 2011 | (2011-12-16 )
The Nigeria's Senior National Women's Team will depart through Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos on Wednesday, December 14 for the Pepsi ICC- Africa T20 Women's Tournament holding in Kampala, Uganda from December 16-20,2011.
This will be the first time the a Nigerian Women's team will participate in an international tournament, a major milestone achieved by the Nigeria Cricket Federation.
The women cricketers have been in a 5-day close camp at the University of Ibadan,preparing for the tournament under the supervision of coach Joseph Eshua and Okon Ukpong,Chairman of the Technical Committee of the NCF who will also serve as Team Manager.Mrs. Abimbola Olusola-Sowoolu, a member of the board of NCF will lead the delegation and also serve as the team's chaperone.
The team is comprised of Azeezat Adegboyega (Captain), Azuka Onwujiobi (Vice Captain), Hannah Ayoka, Modupe Ashafa, Blessing Etim, Ruth Ayannaike, Victoria Eyo, Mosunmola Job, Adetutu Oludare, Rashidat Tijani, Adepeju Adetoro, Oluwaseun Awonusi,Rukayat Owolabi and Samantha Agazuma.
They will be competing with their counterparts from Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Sierra-Leone.
