SUCCESS AT THE ICC-ACA ALL ROUNDER ACADEMY HELD IN KADUNA
The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), recorded success at the ICC-ACA All Rounder Cricket Academy held at the Crocodile Cricket Club in Kaduna from 30-31, March, 2011. The Academy was declared open by the Director of Sports, Kaduna State, Mallam Yakubu Haladu. The Director, in his remarks, promised to give his full support in promoting the noble game of cricket. He appealed to the Nigeria Cricket Federation to assist with playing equipments and the fencing of the Murtala Mohammed Square Cricket Cricket Oval, since Kaduna has the best cricket oval in the whole of the North. Haladu congratulated the Chairman of Kaduna State Cricket Association, Dr. Yahaya Ukwenya for his contributions to the development of the game at the grass root level. He thanked the resource persons, Messrs Okon Ukpong, Chairman Technical Committee of NCF and Ewa Henshaw, National Development Manager of NCF for facilitating the Academy. Responding to the Director’s remarks, Mr. Ewa Henshaw, the National Development Manager of the NCF, commended Kaduna State for providing a modern electronic score board at the oval. A number of 20 participants, mainly from Northern Zone attended the two-day course. They were taking through theoretical and practical aspects of the different departments of the game. Some of the dignitaries present are the Zonal Coordinator of the National Sports Commission, Alhaji Mohammed Tella, Deputy Director of Sports, Kaduna State, Mr. Samuel Auta, Assistant Director of Sports, Mr Yashim, the 1st Vice Chairman, Nigerian Cricket Federation, Dr Yahaya Ukwenya, and Secretary -General of NCF, Patrick Okeke.
